Jeonghae (丁亥) day pillar
A lamp by night water: someone who lights the way
What the Jeonghae day pillar is like
Jeonghae is a lamp (丁) over early-winter night water (亥). Water governs fire, so Direct Officer (정관) sits below, and 亥 is a Nobleman (천을귀인) branch for 丁, the star of help that turns up when needed. Like a light on a dark shore, it shows others the way and tends to receive help in hard times.
Mild and courteous, it earns trust in public roles. The 甲 hidden in 亥 is Direct Resource (정인), so learning continues through life, and teaching or guiding suits it. The stage is Conception (태): new plans keep forming.
A flame on water flickers in the wind. When the mood around you pulls hard, recalling why you chose your path in the first place steadies you.
The Jeonghae ilju (day pillar), character by character
Number 24 of the sixty-pillar cycle. The table shows what Halmeoni's calendar engine computes for this pillar.
| Fact | Value |
|---|---|
| Top character (day master) | 丁 — a candle or lamp (yin fire) |
| Bottom character (day branch) | 亥 — Pig · water · early winter (about November) |
| Yin-yang | yin (both characters) |
| Elements | fire above, water below |
| How the two relate | The bottom character presses on the top one: shaped by duty and pressure. |
| Hidden stems (ten gods) | 戊 Hurting Officer (상관), 甲 Direct Resource (정인), 壬 Direct Officer (정관) |
| Ten god of the day branch | Direct Officer (정관) — rules, a job, a good name; for a woman, a husband |
| Twelve stages | Conception (태) — conceived: a new plan forming |
| Void branches (공망) | 午, 未 — an empty spot: what is hard to hold on to |
| Stars on the day branch | Nobleman (천을귀인) — a helper who turns up when things are hard |
Hidden stems are the forces tucked inside the bottom character; the last one listed is the strongest. Ten gods describe each character as seen from the top character, the day master, so the same bottom character gets a different name under a different day master. The void branches are the two that have no partner in this pillar's ten-day week; they only matter when they appear elsewhere in a chart.
The twelve stages here count backwards for yin stems (the 음포태 method). Schools that give yin stems the yang table (양포태) get a different stage for this pillar.
A day pillar is only two of the eight characters in a chart. People who share it can read very differently once the year, month and hour are added, so take this as entertainment, not as a verdict on who you are.
