The 60 day pillars

From Gapja (甲子) to Gyehae (癸亥): all sixty birth-day pillars, grouped by their top character.

What is an ilju (day pillar)?

A saju (Four Pillars astrology) chart writes your birth year, month, day and hour as two characters each, eight in all. The two characters of your birth day are your ilju. The top one, the day master, stands for you; the bottom one, the day branch, is read as the ground you stand on and the place of a partner.

Day pillars run in a sixty-day cycle, so people born in the same year usually have different ones, and people of different ages often share one. You find yours with a perpetual calendar; if you were born between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m., the way the midnight hour is split can move it by a day.

How to read these pages

Each page shows what Halmeoni's calendar engine computes for the pillar (elements and yin-yang, hidden stems and ten gods, twelve stages, void branches) and a short write-up based on those facts. The write-up describes tendencies often linked to the pillar; the other six characters of a chart change a great deal.

Read it for fun. Please don't judge yourself or anyone else, or make an important decision, on one day pillar.
