Imsul (壬戌) day pillar
A river held by an autumn bank: strength that grows when channelled
What the Imsul day pillar is like
Imsul is great water (壬) held back by the earth of late autumn (戌). Earth governs water, so Seven Killings (편관) sits below, and the stage is Coming of age (관대). Like a river deepening behind a bank, it is read as building strength inside limits and responsibilities.
Hidden in 戌 are 辛 as Direct Resource (정인) and 丁 as Direct Wealth (정재), combining learning with practical sense. Ambitious and driven, it gets more motivated when the job is hard. It is traditionally counted among the forceful pillars.
Held water overflows sooner or later, and stored stress can burst out all at once. Habits that release it through the body, such as exercise or walks, suit it well.
The Imsul ilju (day pillar), character by character
Number 59 of the sixty-pillar cycle. The table shows what Halmeoni's calendar engine computes for this pillar.
| Fact | Value |
|---|---|
| Top character (day master) | 壬 — the sea or a great river (yang water) |
| Bottom character (day branch) | 戌 — Dog · earth · late autumn (about October) |
| Yin-yang | yang (both characters) |
| Elements | water above, earth below |
| How the two relate | The bottom character presses on the top one: shaped by duty and pressure. |
| Hidden stems (ten gods) | 辛 Direct Resource (정인), 丁 Direct Wealth (정재), 戊 Seven Killings (편관) |
| Ten god of the day branch | Seven Killings (편관) — pressure and hard duties; for a woman, a lover |
| Twelve stages | Coming of age (관대) — putting on adult clothes: confidence |
| Void branches (공망) | 子, 丑 — an empty spot: what is hard to hold on to |
Hidden stems are the forces tucked inside the bottom character; the last one listed is the strongest. Ten gods describe each character as seen from the top character, the day master, so the same bottom character gets a different name under a different day master. The void branches are the two that have no partner in this pillar's ten-day week; they only matter when they appear elsewhere in a chart.
A day pillar is only two of the eight characters in a chart. People who share it can read very differently once the year, month and hour are added, so take this as entertainment, not as a verdict on who you are.
